Controls

Stick Jump uses a single input. That's part of its beauty — one action, infinite skill ceiling.

Device Action What Happens
Desktop Click & hold Stick extends forward from the edge of the platform
Desktop Release click Stick drops; stickman walks across
Mobile Tap & hold Stick extends forward from the edge of the platform
Mobile Release tap Stick drops; stickman walks across

Objective

Your goal is simple: cross as many platforms as possible without falling. Each successful crossing adds one point to your score. The game ends the moment you fall — either because the stick was too short to reach the next platform or too long (overshooting past the edge).

There is no finish line. The game goes on indefinitely, and the challenge is to beat your personal best.

Game Mechanics

Stick Growth

When you press and hold, the stick grows vertically from the edge of your current platform. The growth speed is constant, so the only variable is how long you hold. Once you release, the stick falls forward and becomes a bridge. The stickman then walks across it automatically.

Platform Distance

The gap between platforms varies. Early in the game, platforms are relatively close together and wider. As your score increases, platforms become narrower and the gaps between them increase. This is the game's difficulty curve — no artificial speed-ups, just tighter margins for error.

Landing Zone

The stick must land on the next platform's surface. If the stick extends past the platform entirely, it counts as a miss. If it falls short, the stickman walks off the edge. Both scenarios end your run.

💡 Pro Tip

Focus on the far edge of the next platform, not the near edge. It's better to slightly overshoot than to undershoot. A stick that reaches 90% of the platform still lands; a stick that's 1 pixel too short means death.

Beginner Tips

  1. Don't rush. There's no time limit on holding the stick. Take a breath, estimate the distance, then release.
  2. Count to yourself. Develop a rhythm. If a short gap takes a "one-Mississippi" hold, a medium gap takes "two-Mississippi." Build internal timing.
  3. Watch the stick tip, not the stickman. Your eyes should track where the top of the growing stick is relative to the target platform.
  4. Accept early failures. Your first few games will end quickly. That's normal. Each failure teaches you something about distance estimation.
  5. Play in a distraction-free environment. Since timing is everything, even a brief distraction can end your run.

Advanced Techniques

Platform Edge Reading

Expert players learn to read the width and position of the next platform before they start extending the stick. Wider platforms are more forgiving. Narrow platforms demand exact timing. Scan the gap before you press.

Rhythm Chaining

Once you've played enough, you can develop a flow state where you chain jumps in rapid succession without pausing. This is risky but creates the highest scores. The key is maintaining consistent internal timing even as platform distances change.

The "Half-Way" Rule

When unsure about a gap, aim for the stick to extend roughly to the center of the next platform. This gives you maximum margin of error on both sides — the stick will land on the platform whether you slightly under- or over-estimated.

🎯 Score Target

Beginners: aim for 5 platforms. Intermediate: aim for 15. Advanced: 30+. The difficulty ramp makes every platform past 20 a serious test of skill.

Common Mistakes

  • Panic releasing. You see the stick getting long and release too early out of fear. Stay calm and commit to your estimation.
  • Not adjusting for narrow platforms. Narrow platforms require much more precise timing. Slow down when you see one coming.
  • Overconfidence after a streak. After 10 successful jumps, many players speed up and get sloppy. Maintain the same deliberate pace.
  • Playing on a laggy device. Input delay ruins your timing. If possible, play on a device with a responsive browser.
